Introduction

Castle Clash is a new game that is developed by IGG. It has some similarities to Clash of Clans, which became really popular back when Super Cell released it.

The ultimate goal of the game is to create an impregnable fortress, invade other player's fortresses and steal their resources.

You have a couple of things that you can do while invading:

  • Using normal troops such as archers and mages
  • Using heroes that can be obtained from hero shards from dungeons
  • Using spells

Basic Stuff

Gold

This is your currency in the game for upgrading buildings or your army.

Mana

This is also used for upgrading.

Gems

This is the real money currency that can be used to speed up everything in the game. This will allow you to build a powerful army quickly, giving you an advantage in the game.

Buildings and Their Uses

Town Hall - This is your main building. This can be upgraded to increase the number of other buildings you have which will be described below.

Defensive Buildings

These are mainly used for defending against enemy attacks and works really well with well placed walls.

Watch Tower - The most basic defense tower that shoots arrows at your enemies. Upgrading it will improve its range, damage and hp. Once a tower hits level 10, it can start specializing. Your choices are arrow, magic or cannon Tower. The arrow tower attacks quickly and targets both ground and air units. Magic tower targets up to 3 units against ground/air units. The cannon tower does huge splash damage but can only attack ground units.

Garrison - This can be built once you can build either the arrow, magic or cannon tower. This allows you to put heroes in it and they can help you defend your fortress.

Resources Buildings

Gold Mine - This mines gold for you. Upgrading it increases the speed of gold generation.

Gold Vault - This stores the gold. Once it reaches the max capacity, your gold mine won't produce any more gold. Upgrade it to increase the maximum amount of gold you can store.

Mana Mill - This generates mana for you. Upgrading it will increase your mana production.

Mana Vault - This stores mana. Once it reaches max capacity, your gold mine won't produce any more mana. This can be upgraded to increase the max capacity.

Army Buildings

Training Center - This trains your troops. It also unlock new types of units when upgraded.

Army Camp - This place stores your troops. Upgrading it increases the capacity.

Troops

Troops are the most fun part of the game in my opinion. Not only will you have to figure out how many of each you should deploy in battle, you also have to make sure you put them in the right spot too.

Below are the Tier 1 units that you will be seeing often when you start out:

Guardian - Your basic melee warrior. They always target the nearest enemy/building.

Hunter - Your archer class. This provides ranged attack but they are quite fragile.

Pyromancer - Your mage class. Low hp, high damage glass cannons. Try to deploy them last.

Treant - These guys are defensive building destroyers. They deal more damage to towers and always prioritize them first.

When you upgrade these guys to level 5, you will unlock new tier 2 units. Since I have not gotten that far, I can't really give you any detailed information. However, if you do need more details, check out this wiki.

Heroes

This are strong units that can be acquired by getting honor badges. They can be gotten from battling in the arena, invading other player's bases and also PvE dungeon rooms. Honor badges are also used to raise your heroes level caps.

Tips

Here are some tips for you:

  • Try to deploy your troops evenly throughout the map to take out big threats such as towers and heroes.
  • Do not always build only 1 type of troop. Diversifying is the key to victory.
  • Improve your gold and mana generators if you only play once a day for maximum resource collecting.
  • Level up your new heroes by taking them to battle with your main troops. They gain experience even if they die.
