Laptop for Gaming

To be quite honest, gaming on a laptop is not as good as a desktop. However, having a laptop is very convenient for people that want to travel around and play video games at the same time. The following laptops that I recommend are more suitable for the following games:

  • League of Legends
  • Minecraft
  • Any game that doesn't focus too much on high end 3D graphics

To play the above games with ease, the following criteria must be met:

  • 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i3 or higher
  • 500GB Hard Drive
  • 4 GB memory

I recommend at least 6 GB memory because if you are getting Windows 8 or higher, you can still run a few programs before your laptop slows down.

Dell Inspiron 15 i15RV

This is the laptop that I game with. I bought this November 2013. It has been great for me so far. The keyboard is smooth and comfortable to use. It already comes with Windows 8 installed. This is a non-touch screen laptop, so having apps on my computer was unnecessary.

I did have to get used to the new Windows 8, given that I have been using Windows Vista. To search for stuff, you have to navigate your mouse to the right and wait for a pop up to access the search bar. This makes it quite troublesome to find things like the control panel.

In terms of running games, League of Legends and Minecraft runs well and I have not yet encountered any problems. Below are the details for the laptop:

  • 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3337U Processor
  • 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
  • 15.6-Inch Screen
  • Windows 8, 6-cell battery
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • Wireless 802.11bgn
  • 4 USB Ports
  • Black Matte Color
  • 5 pounds
  • Dimensions are 14.80 x 9.65 x 1.35 inches
  • Hard Drive 5400 RPM

ASUS K55N-DB81 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

I used to own an older ASUS laptop years ago and I had great experiences with it. It did eventually become way too slow for me to use it, but it lasted a great 5 years. This ASUS K55N-DB81 is a good gaming laptop for the following reasons:

  • 6 GB memory
  • 750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive

This only allows you to run multiple programs in the background and still be okay. You can run your favorite game(LoL or Minecraft) and have music or other tasks going on and it still runs smoothly. One of my friends play Far Cry 3 on this laptop and it runs great. He calls it the "beast". He has played League of Legends, Black Ops 2, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, Final Fantasy 14 and WoW on it as well with no problems.

Here are the full specs of the laptop:

  • 1.9 GHz A-Series Quad-Core A8-4500M Processor
  • 6 GB DDR3 memory
  • 750 GB hard drive
  • Wireless 802.11bgn
  • 1 USB 2.0 Port
  • 2 USB 3.0 Ports
  • 5.5 Hours battery life
  • Dimensions are 14.90 x 10 x 1.30 inches
  • 5400 RPM

Toshiba Satellite C55-A5245 15.6-Inch Laptop

For those that do not want to use Windows 8, the Toshiba Satellite Laptop comes with the classic Windows 7 platform. If you are very resistant to changes, this would be the perfect pick for you. The main advantage this laptop offers is:

  • 2.3 GHz Core i3-3110M

This is a much faster processor than both the above recommended laptops, but it does come with just a standard 4 GB memory, which can be upgraded if you wish. Since the budget is under 600 dollars, this would do just fine. Here is the full details:

  • 4 GB DIMM
  • 500 GB Hard Drive
  • Mobile Intel HD graphics
  • Wireless 802.11bgn
  • 2 USB 2.0 Ports
  • 1 USB 3.0 Ports
  • 4 Hour Battery Life
  • Dimensions are 9.53 x 14.96 x 1.39 inches
  • 5400 RPM

Gaming Laptops Under 600 Dollars Conclusion

There you have it guys! I hoped that helped you figure out which one you want to go with. I personally would recommend the Dell Inspiron 15 i15RV since I have it, but the other 2 are also good. Either way, it is up to you do decide!
